About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Expert III to join our team at QinetiQ US. As a critical member of our organization, you will be responsible for building and executing cybersecurity-related engagement efforts on behalf of a federal government customer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and Assess Risks: Identify infrastructure assets and systems that could be impacted by cyber and physical threats and hazards during an incident.
  • Develop Mitigation Strategies: Identify dependencies and interdependencies between infrastructure assets and systems that could cause cascading consequences.
  • Conduct Research and Analysis: Identify disruptions that could have national or regional impacts to infrastructure assets or systems and evaluate the impacts of disruptions to assets and systems identified through open source and confidential reporting.
  • Develop Decision Support Products: Develop analysis using qualitative heuristics, modeling and simulation results, and other analytic methods to characterize the direct and cascading impacts of disruptions to infrastructure assets and systems.
  • Recommend Mitigations: Identify and recommend potential mitigations that minimize impacts to Critical Infrastructure.
  • Conduct In-Depth Research: Conduct in-depth research on emerging threats and vulnerabilities affecting critical infrastructure, including cyberattacks, physical attacks, natural disasters, and climate change.
  • Develop Comprehensive Risk Assessments: Develop comprehensive risk assessments related to topics such as, but not limited to Electromagnetic Pulse, Position, Navigation, and Timing, and Space/Space Weather.
  • Provide Written Assessments: Provide written assessments of risk based on extensive research from various sources (e.g., government reports, industry publications, and open-source intelligence) and coordination which include recommendations for reducing risk and assessments on the likelihood that the recommendations will be adopted.
  • Identify Trends and Patterns: Identify trends and patterns in threats.
  • Provide Evaluation: Provide evaluation on the likelihood and impact of potential threats on critical infrastructure systems using cost-benefit analysis principles and methodologies, and familiarity with risk assessment frameworks and methodologies used in critical infrastructure protection.
  • Maintain Awareness: Maintain awareness of the latest advancements in technology, regulations, and threat landscapes to ensure ongoing effectiveness of risk management strategies.
  • Communicate Complex Information: Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, both written and spoken.
  • Incorporate Findings: Incorporate findings from risk analysis into the organization's existing risk registers, as appropriate.
  • Recommend Mitigation Strategies: Recommend practical mitigation strategies to address identified risks (e.g., cyber security measures, physical security enhancements, and disaster preparedness plans).
  • Evaluate Effectiveness: Evaluate the effectiveness of existing risk mitigation strategies for critical infrastructure, including cyber security measures, physical security enhancements, and disaster preparedness plans, identifying gaps and limitations in existing mitigation strategies and recommending research priorities to address them.
  • Assess Impact: Assess the impact of mitigation strategies on risk reduction using quantitative analysis and modeling.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with engineers, security experts, and policymakers to develop and implement risk management strategies for critical infrastructure.
  • Participate in Exercises: Participate in tabletop exercises and simulations to test and refine mitigation strategies in realistic scenarios.
  • Develop Briefing Materials: Develop and deliver briefing materials and presentations to stakeholders on the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop Insightful Products: Develop products that provide insight into why existing risk management efforts are ineffective or an assessment why the risk mitigation efforts have managed risk to an acceptable level.
  • Support the NCIPP Program: Provide analytic support to execute the annual National Critical Infrastructure Prioritization Program (NCIPP) Data Call, produce the annual NCIPP prioritization analysis, and enhance and modernize the NCIPP program.
Requirements
  • Education: MS in Engineering Sciences
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in an engineering field (systems, nuclear, biochemical, civil, or chemical), operations research, and/or advanced computing (to include AI)
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of the engineered systems that are central to the 16 Critical Infrastructure sectors
  • Clearance: TS/SCI
