We are seeking a qualified Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Educator to provide specialized educational support to students with hearing challenges.

The DHH Educator will play a crucial role in delivering tailored instruction and support to enhance the learning experience for students with hearing impairments.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored for students with hearing impairments.
  • Deliver direct instruction across various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Utilize multiple communication techniques, including American Sign Language (ASL), to facilitate effective learning.
  • Incorporate assistive technologies and adaptive tools to support student engagement and understanding.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education professionals, and other specialists to ensure integration within the general curriculum.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and refine instructional strategies as needed.
  • Advocate for the educational needs of students, ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and training to school personnel and families on effective strategies for supporting students with hearing impairments.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements and best practices in the field of deaf education.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Certification or licensure in Alabama as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educator.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication methods.
  • Experience in an educational setting working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and resources available for students with hearing impairments.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
