Position Title: Visual Arts Educator

Reports To: Principal

Supervises: Assigned Instructional Aides

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Objectives:
  • To cultivate a learning atmosphere where students thrive academically, socially, and physically in alignment with educational philosophy and objectives.
  • To execute a comprehensive educational program tailored to the designated grade level and subject area(s) utilizing the prescribed curriculum, suitable materials, and effective instructional methodologies.
  • To act as a student advocate, role model, and professional resource for parents, the community, and the educational system.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  2. Valid teaching certification in the assigned grade level and subject area(s).
  3. Ability to meet employment suitability criteria under applicable child protection laws.
  4. Proficient in both oral and written communication.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills, emphasizing collaboration and communication with diverse groups to enhance student achievement.
  6. Capability to design and implement curriculum and programs that cater to the specific needs of students in the designated grade levels and subject areas.
  7. Adept at identifying and resolving issues as a constructive team member.
  8. Proficient in utilizing technology for communication, instructional planning, data management, and report generation.
  9. Physical capability to fulfill job responsibilities effectively.
  10. Commitment to punctuality and regular attendance.
  11. Any other qualifications as required by the Board.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Exhibit support for the educational system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of child development and the characteristics of the assigned age group.
  3. Show proficiency in the prescribed curriculum, current educational research, and technological tools; implement best instructional practices to meet diverse learning styles and achieve measurable outcomes.
  4. Utilize technology for instructional planning and to facilitate student learning.
  5. Model innovative technology use for students.
  6. Oversee the integration of technology within the classroom.
  7. Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment through appropriate student supervision.
  8. Provide tailored instruction for students with diverse needs, including those in exceptional education and those with limited English proficiency.
  9. Select and adapt materials that support learning objectives and accommodate various learning styles and backgrounds.
  10. Establish effective routines and behavior management techniques.
  11. Create a challenging yet supportive learning climate.
  12. Organize instructional time and administrative activities efficiently.
  13. Guide and supervise student teachers, volunteers, and paraprofessionals as assigned.
  14. Utilize ongoing assessments to track student progress and inform instructional planning.
  15. Encourage self-assessment among students and assist in developing improvement plans.
  16. Communicate timely and relevant information regarding student progress to students, parents, and colleagues.
  17. Set high expectations for all students and establish relevant learning outcomes.
  18. Employ strategies to enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking skills among students.
  19. Instruct on safety procedures and proper material handling.
  20. Promote student responsibility, social behavior, integrity, cultural diversity, and respect through role modeling and educational activities.
  21. Recognize signs of student distress or abuse and take appropriate action.
  22. Manage school funds in accordance with established procedures.
  23. Participate in state-approved evaluation programs as required.
  24. Supervise students during assigned duties before, during, and after school.
  25. Assist with extracurricular and co-curricular activities as assigned.
  26. Engage in school committees, task forces, and planning teams as required.
  27. Support school improvement initiatives through active participation in school events and programs.
  28. Commit to personal professional development and adhere to professional standards and ethics.
  29. Administer state and standardized testing as assigned, ensuring a secure testing environment.
  30. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and school matters.
  31. Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner.
  32. Identify potential issues and opportunities for improvement proactively.
  33. Report unusual events or work irregularities to appropriate personnel.
  34. Respond promptly to inquiries and feedback in a constructive manner.
  35. Submit reports and records accurately and on time.
  36. Utilize and care for school resources responsibly while supervising students in their use.
  37. Adhere to school policies, regulations, and procedures.
  38. Report absences according to established protocols and prepare for substitutes as necessary.
  39. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the principal or supervisors.
Employment Terms: Nine, ten, or twelve-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule.

Evaluation: Performance will be assessed in accordance with state education department policies.
