Position Overview

The Clinical Outcomes Improvement Manager is a registered nurse (RN) with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience relevant to specific patient populations. This role requires strong analytical abilities to design, implement, and oversee an outcome-based reporting system for high-risk diagnoses, patient demographics, physicians, and targeted care processes.

Experience in performance enhancement is preferred. Effective communication skills, diplomacy, and the ability to collaborate across various disciplines and levels are essential. This position involves preparing quality reports related to the care of designated patient populations for hospital clinical departments and regulatory agencies in conjunction with interdisciplinary care team members.


Responsibilities include generating data reports concerning specific patient populations for hospital clinical departments and regulatory bodies, working collaboratively with interdisciplinary care teams.

A foundational understanding of quality control procedures and practices within a healthcare setting is required. Familiarity with data collection methodologies, performance improvement strategies, and tools (e.g., Rapid Cycle PDSA, Lean Six Sigma) is essential.

Knowledge of clinical pathways or guidelines, as well as accreditation and regulatory standards, is preferred. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to work cooperatively with others is crucial.

Skills in writing reports containing technical information, developing and presenting educational programs or workshops, and project management are necessary. Team building and leadership capabilities are vital, along with the ability to supervise non-clinical data abstractors and assist in their education regarding core measures data abstraction. Strong time management and organizational skills, along with the ability to multitask various activities, are required. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are essential attributes.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience related to Core Measures or the designated patient populations to be managed is required. Experience with performance improvement concepts and/or CORE Measure indicators is preferred.

Educational Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and/or a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Current New Jersey RN licensure is required. Current RN certification is preferred, particularly CPHQ.
