Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Risk Management & Insurance, the Clinical Risk Management Specialist plays a crucial role in executing daily risk management initiatives.

This position serves as a vital resource, addressing pertinent risk management topics for evaluation and consideration of potential risk mitigation strategies, policy modifications, and organizational improvements.

The Specialist ensures adherence to effective loss prevention and control measures in alignment with state, federal, and organizational standards.

Responsibilities include investigating unexpected clinical outcomes, significant preventable events, and potential compensable incidents.

Engagement in the analysis of risk management data, development and delivery of educational programs, and provision of risk management counsel is essential to uphold patient safety, enhance quality care, and minimize losses across the health system, encompassing both outpatient and inpatient services.

Preparation of various incident summary reports and documentation for investigations is required, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff, leadership, and clinical providers on sensitive clinical matters.

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations, medical terminology, and institutional policies and procedures is necessary.

The role demands proficiency in managing and negotiating during emotionally charged situations, with a keen awareness of the operational dynamics and culture of the health system.

Educational Background

A Bachelor's degree in nursing or a healthcare-related discipline is required.
