Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Shelter Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the effective operation of the Shelter Program. This position involves various responsibilities aimed at maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all clients.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch break
Flexibility in scheduling may be required to meet program goals and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Shelter Team in upholding the cleanliness and organization of the shelter premises.
  • Support Food Services in keeping the kitchen and dining areas tidy.
  • Help with daily laundry tasks for the shelter.
  • Assist the Shelter Team in distributing hygiene supplies to clients.
  • Organize and replenish personal hygiene, supply, and cleaning storage areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding client records and the shelter's location.
  • Support the Shelter Team by welcoming clients and guests at the door.
  • Ensure that laundry detergent, bleach, and dish soap dispensers are adequately stocked on a weekly basis.
  • Provide assistance to the Children's Services Team during childcare coverage gaps.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • This is an entry-level position with no prior experience required.

Education and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and reference checks is required.
  • Must possess a clean driving record and have automobile insurance coverage.
  • Minimum of three years of verifiable driving experience is necessary.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move a minimum of 40 lbs. over extended distances.

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to issues related to family violence and sexual assault.
