Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Shelter Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the shelter program. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

WORKING HOURS:
Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch break
Flexibility in scheduling may be required to meet program needs and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Shelter Team in keeping the facility clean and organized.
  • Assist the Food Services department in maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas.
  • Help with daily laundry tasks for the shelter.
  • Provide assistance in stocking hygiene supplies for clients.
  • Organize and replenish personal hygiene, supply, and cleaning storage areas.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding participant records and shelter location.
  • Help the Shelter Team by greeting clients and visitors at the door.
  • Ensure that laundry detergent, bleach, and dish soap dispensers are replenished weekly.
  • Support the Children's Services Team during childcare coverage gaps.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • This is an entry-level position with no specific prior experience required.

Education and Requirements:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and reference checks is mandatory.
  • Must possess a clean driving record and automobile insurance coverage, with at least three years of verifiable driving experience.
  • Proof of personal automobile insurance coverage must be provided and maintained.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move a minimum of 40 lbs. over extended distances.

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing workloads.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to issues related to family violence and sexual assault.
