POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certification & Licensing Division is dedicated to safeguarding the public by ensuring that only qualified individuals obtain certification to practice in specific regulated fields. The Division is looking for a capable individual to fulfill the role of a Certification Specialist within the Attorney Admissions Unit. The selected candidate will be responsible for certifying and evaluating applicants seeking admission through various pathways, including motion, transfer of bar exam scores, law professor certification, foreign legal consultant status, military spouse certification, and practice pending admission. The primary objective will be to evaluate applicants' qualifications and compliance with the admission criteria established by the Supreme Court of Arizona.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering clear and thorough interpretations of admission criteria, procedural guidelines, mandatory regulations, and application statuses to applicants through both verbal and written communication. Drafting, preparing, and sending written requests, deficiency notices, and certification notifications. Conducting inquiries and communications with jurisdictions to confirm attorney standing or examination status in accordance with Arizona regulations. Developing and maintaining a detailed database of eligible and certified applicants, those awaiting certification, and those with deficiencies or missed deadlines, providing regular updates to the Manager. Managing Petitions for Review, Responses, and facilitating communications with the Clerk's Office.

Additionally, this role encompasses:

Assisting with the upkeep of the Unit's website. Archiving closed application records. Collaborating with Unit members to prepare materials and oversee the administration of bar examinations (February and July), including on-site coordination, registration, proctor instructions, procedural oversight, security, and assisting with pre and post-examination processes.

After an initial period of at least three months in person, this position may offer the ability to work remotely up to two days per week, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
This position necessitates a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required, with proven expertise in effectively communicating with diverse and often conflicting applicants, other stakeholders, committee members, judicial officers, staff, and the public. Strong research, tracking, and analytical skills are essential, along with the capability to manage multiple confidential and complex records. This role also demands the ability to make both subjective and objective decisions, exercising judgment and diplomacy in complex and sensitive matters, and producing precise and accurate work in a high-volume, high-stress environment.

The ideal candidate will possess experience and knowledge of professional licensing and document examination procedures. Skills in case management, some supervisory experience, and documented examination or investigation credentials or experience are preferred.
