The analyst will serve as a technical point of escalation during security incidents, assessing the severity of threats and their potential impact on business operations. They will recommend and implement appropriate actions to mitigate and resolve incidents. A thorough understanding of the evolving threat landscape is essential, as is the ability to enhance the firm's security posture and identify innovative threat detection methods. This position requires detailed analysis of security incidents, leveraging analytical skills and expertise in IT security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to security alerts and manage escalated security incidents.
- Lead initiatives for simulated phishing exercises.
- Investigate and prioritize malware incidents for escalation.
- Monitor for new threat patterns and vulnerabilities.
- Provide guidance on patching and workarounds for zero-day vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Update management on security developments.
- Analyze malware-related artifacts using NGAV and EDR tools.
- Independently manage incidents from identification to resolution for low to medium priority cases.
- Take ownership of incidents, understanding their business implications.
- Perform additional security-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least one to two years of experience in IT security.
- Proven experience in creating and managing phishing simulations using online tools.
- Familiarity with incident analysis on Microsoft Windows platforms.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
- Ability to perform under pressure and be available outside of regular business hours.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of network systems, computing systems, and software applications.
- Experience with network and vulnerability assessment tools like InsightVM or Tenable.
- Background in high-volume, results-driven environments.
- Experience interacting with vendors for proof of concept support.
Recommended Certifications:
- One or more of the following: GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA CySA, CompTIA Security+.
