Position Overview: The Town of Gilbert is in search of dedicated individuals to become part of our Forensic Scene Analyst team. The primary duties of our Forensic Scene Analysts encompass a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: responding to and managing various crime scenes; gathering and safeguarding both physical and biological evidence; executing crime scene photography, as well as capturing shoe and tire impressions; and performing latent print analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and process all types of crime scenes.
  • Collect and preserve physical and biological evidence.
  • Conduct crime scene photography and shoe/tire impression photography.
  • Perform latent print processing.
  • Complete all data entry related to crime scene activities.
  • Draft reports of findings and provide testimony in court.

Qualifications:

Candidates for the Forensic Scene Analyst position must possess:

  • An Associate's degree; or
  • A minimum of two years of full-time experience as a Forensic Scene Analyst (or equivalent role) with a law enforcement agency.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must qualify to wear a tight-fitting respirator by passing a medical evaluation in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) by the date of hire or promotion and maintain certification.
  • Possession of a valid Arizona Driver's License.

Salary Information: The salary range for a Forensic Scene Analyst is $23.66 - $34.31 per hour.

Forensic Scene Analyst Senior Position:

Candidates for the Senior Forensic Scene Analyst position must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Criminalistics, Forensic Science, or a related field.
  • Three years of full-time experience as a Forensic Scene Analyst or equivalent role with a law enforcement agency.
  • Certification as a Crime Scene Investigator (CCSI) through the International Association for Identification (IAI).

Special Requirements: Due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the information handled, successful completion of a background investigation and polygraph examination is required. Candidates receiving a conditional job offer will be required to pass a psychological evaluation and medical examination.

Work Environment: This position is classified as At-Will and is FLSA Non-Exempt, making it eligible for overtime compensation.
