Position Overview

Under minimal supervision, this role provides essential accounting assistance, including support for Annual Statements, for GFS financial reinsurance transactions to RGA corporate Finance, ceding companies, and retrocessionaires. Responsibilities include preparing support for monthly US GAAP fee accruals and quarterly statutory estimates for RGA Finance and client companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine original ceding company accounting settlements for complex, customized reinsurance agreements to ensure compliance with treaty stipulations.
  • Guarantee precise and timely treaty reporting and settlement, including all associated agreements. Collaborate with clients to resolve discrepancies.
  • Analyze treaty performance against expected outcomes and collaborate with in-force Risk Management to gather additional insights regarding unexpected results.
  • Evaluate treaty performance outcomes and notify relevant parties within GFS if potential issues arise.
  • Foster strong ongoing client relationships. Assist clients in implementing and comprehending treaty provisions as necessary.
  • Provide reporting for retrocessionaires concerning assigned treaties, including current quarter estimates and variance explanations when reporting actual results.
  • Support the review and update of SOX process documentation and offer audit assistance for SOX audits as required.
  • Collaborate with RGA Finance to address any discrepancies in the general ledger P&L and balance sheet.
  • Engage in special projects and committees as needed.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in financial accounting or auditing, including GAAP knowledge.
  • Proficient in Word, strong skills in Excel, and basic SQL/Query capabilities.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a changing environment.
  • Proactive and accountable approach to work.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently, prioritizing effectively.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to share and disseminate knowledge effectively.
  • Ability to balance attention to detail with departmental objectives.
  • Advanced understanding of accounting/finance and general ledger systems.
  • Skill in liaising with individuals across various operational, functional, and technical areas.
