Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Technology Procurement and Asset Management Analyst. This role is pivotal in negotiating software purchasing and renewal agreements to ensure optimal value for our technology investments. The ideal candidate will possess vendor management expertise and collaborate with key stakeholders to oversee, maintain, and coordinate the renewal and procurement of licenses and maintenance agreements. A strong understanding of software contract terminology and the ability to negotiate effectively with vendors is essential to advance the interests of Burns & McDonnell. The successful applicant will be self-driven, detail-oriented, and adept at fostering partnerships with stakeholders. This position is based in our Kansas City office.

Contract and Compliance Responsibilities

  • Provide insights related to litigation, software compliance, contracts, and End User License Agreements (EULAs).
  • Support the development of contract management procedures, tools, and methodologies to ensure compliance with contract terms, while maintaining comprehensive documentation and audit trails.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with contract execution, supporting robust risk management processes.
  • Determine license positions for projects, true-ups, audits, and maintenance renewals using available financial and installation data.
  • Establish standard processes and manage the lifecycle of contract change requests and amendments, with a thorough understanding of contract management tools and governance.

IT Asset Management Duties

  • Assist in the lifecycle management of IT services for all equipment, hardware, and software licenses.
  • Oversee software and hardware management initiatives, including true-up reporting, version control, and catalog updates.
  • Support Software Asset Management (SAM) tools and processes to automate the collection, storage, and reporting of critical software data for effective enterprise management.
  • Proactively evaluate risk and cost reduction opportunities, providing recommendations to Service Owners and SAM leadership to enhance the software asset portfolio.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Collect and maintain precise software licensing information to support budgeting, compliance, inventory management, contracts, and cost analysis.
  • Analyze project business cases, scrutinize financial expenditures, savings, and benefit assumptions, and assist in understanding project benefits within the competitive market context.
  • Conduct financial analyses and reviews, such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI) for project requests to facilitate funding approvals.

Vendor Management Duties

  • Establish internal standards, processes, and templates for vendor interactions, automating processes where feasible.
  • Gain insights into IT vendor expenditures by category, cost center, region, and vendor.
  • Lead collaboration between IT, Procurement, Legal, and Finance Services to maximize contract value and mitigate associated risks.
  • Work closely with IT Service Owners to identify opportunities for procurement staff to negotiate effectively with vendors, ensuring cost-effective acquisitions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, economics, management, or a related field; applicable experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, ad-hoc situations is preferred.
  • Comfortable working with and analyzing large datasets is preferred.
