This position is pivotal in our Kansas City, MO office.


Your Role

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Technology and Operations, the Head of Software Asset Management (SAM) will spearhead the organization’s software asset management strategy, ensuring the effective and efficient use of software resources.

This role is essential for optimizing software expenditures, ensuring adherence to licensing agreements, and formulating policies for the acquisition, deployment, and decommissioning of software assets.


Your Impact

Contract Oversight

Manage software agreements, including renewals and compliance, in collaboration with our Vendor Management Office.

Negotiate and oversee contracts with software providers to secure favorable terms.

Ensure all agreements are current and stored securely for easy retrieval.

License Oversight

Guarantee the availability of required licenses and compliance with licensing agreements.

Monitor and manage license distributions to avert legal and financial repercussions.

Track and report on license utilization to optimize deployment and prevent over-licensing.

Cost Management

Identify and eliminate unused or underutilized licenses to enhance software spending.

Devise strategies to maximize the return on software investments.

Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management regarding software-related expenses.

Lifecycle Management

Oversee the procurement of new software, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements and standards.

Manage the removal and replacement of unsupported or outdated software.

Maintain an accurate inventory of software assets.

Policy Formulation

Develop and implement standards for software acquisition, deployment, usage, and retirement.

Establish guidelines and procedures for the management of software assets across the organization.

Ensure all policies are effectively communicated and adhered to by relevant stakeholders.

SNOW Product Leadership

Oversee the SNOW software asset management tool, including the input of agreements and monitoring of usage.

Ensure accurate and up-to-date data in the SNOW system to support decision-making and reporting.

Provide training and support to users of the SNOW system.

Compliance Oversight

Ensure the organization complies with all software license agreements and regulations.

Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify compliance issues.

Collaborate closely with legal and procurement teams to address any compliance risks.

Cost Allocation Management

Provide detailed cost breakdowns to various regions, projects, teams, and stakeholders.

Develop and maintain a cost allocation model to accurately distribute software expenses.

Monitor and report on software usage and cost allocation to support budgeting and forecasting.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

At least 12+ years of relevant professional experience in software asset management or related fields.

Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements.

Proven experience in contract negotiation and management.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with software asset management tools, particularly SNOW.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Experience in cost optimization and financial analysis.

Familiarity with ITIL practices and principles.
