Position Summary:

The Commercial Construction Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing the field operations of commercial construction projects valued at $5 million and above.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Commercial Construction Superintendent include, but are not limited to:
  • Overseeing the field operations to ensure adherence to deadlines, quality standards, and project progress on large-scale commercial projects.
  • Maintaining existing relationships with architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA 30 certification.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in interpreting and coordinating construction drawings.
  • Supervising subcontractors on-site to guarantee project quality and timely completion.
  • Assisting in the estimation process for commercial projects.
  • Managing site access for vendors, subcontractors, and visitors.
Supervisory Duties:

This role includes supervisory responsibilities, specifically overseeing subcontractors on-site.

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Associate degree (A.A or A.S) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; 2 to 3 years of relevant industry experience or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred experience in the construction/restoration industry.
  • Basic mathematical skills equivalent to a GED level.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing roofs and navigating confined spaces.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills in English.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and possess a positive attitude.
  • Must pass background checks and drug screenings.
Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management is preferred, along with over ten years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Proficiency:

Ability to read and interpret construction documents, safety regulations, and operational instructions. Capable of writing routine reports and effectively communicating with clients and colleagues.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in project scheduling software, particularly Microsoft Project, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). Knowledge of BIM and SAGE is advantageous.

Construction Experience:

Prior experience managing commercial construction projects, including mixed-use and multi-family developments, is essential.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements of this position include regular walking on job sites, using hands for various tasks, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision capabilities must include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
