Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Billing and Coding Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for individuals eager to expand their expertise in a supportive and collaborative setting. Candidates should possess a minimum of one year of experience in medical billing. A certification from a recognized Medical Billing and Coding institution, such as AHIMA or AAPC, is preferred, along with a strong understanding of the coding process. The successful applicant will demonstrate a willingness to learn, adapt swiftly, and thrive in an innovative workplace. This is a temporary-to-permanent, in-office position that offers comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, and paid sick leave.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately review and assign medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines in coding and billing activities.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve any coding discrepancies.
  • Prepare and submit electronic claims to insurance companies and government entities.
  • Follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and appeals to optimize reimbursement.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in coding and billing practices by attending relevant training and workshops.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and accuracy in coding and billing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Professional Coder (AAPC) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding and billing is necessary.
  • Proficient in using coding manuals and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Familiarity with insurance claim processes and regulations is essential.
  • Experience with medical billing software and practice management systems is advantageous.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Coding/Billing/CPC is required.
  • Must provide two professional references.
  • Ability to pass a background check is necessary.
  • Certification in coding from AHIMA or AAPC is highly preferred.
  • Must be able to work full-time in person.
