Banquet Captain Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Banquet Captain to join our team at BBL Hospitality. The successful candidate will assist the Banquet Manager in overseeing banquet staff and coordinating banquet functions to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain organization of banquet service areas, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for our guests.
  • Ensure banquet cleanliness in both front and back of house, adhering to the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation.
  • Assist in pre-service and periodic training, empowering banquet staff to deliver exceptional service.
  • Coordinate food service between the kitchen and banquet servers, guaranteeing timely and accurate delivery of meals.
  • Inspect all set-ups to ensure they meet BEO requirements, paying close attention to detail.
  • Review and implement table and seating diagrams, ensuring a well-planned and executed event.
  • Manage all opening and closing side work, maintaining a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Control transfers and stock inventory, minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
  • Complete event captains report, providing valuable insights and feedback.
  • Complete strike list and closing inspection duties, ensuring a thorough and accurate assessment of the event.
  • Check on customers' identification, verifying their credentials and ensuring a secure environment.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, prioritizing the well-being of our guests and staff.
  • Control and limit wastage, minimizing our environmental footprint and reducing costs.
  • Review menu/service (BEO) with Sales Managers and Chef on a daily basis, ensuring a cohesive and effective event plan.
  • Coordinate and oversee all food requirements with the kitchen, unless otherwise communicated through the Banquet Supervisor.
  • Coordinate all liquor requirements with the Lounge Manager, ensuring a seamless and efficient service.
  • Assist with all reasonable bar back duties as required, supporting the team in delivering exceptional service.
  • Maintain up-to-date details on banquet functions and communicate changes to the supervisor or captains, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.

Requirements:

  • A college degree or related experience in the operations of banquets or catering facilities.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, food handling, and service techniques.
  • Attention to detail, communication skills, organization skills, problem-solving, reasoning, leadership, and training abilities.
  • Physical requirements include moving around or standing for long periods of time, handling and setting up banquet equipment, which may require lifting and/or carrying items weighing 15 to 60 lbs.
