Job Summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a highly skilled Grants Specialist to join our team. As a Grants Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing grant support to our customers in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with all applicable institutional, state, and federal regulations, policies, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide grant support to customers in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Execute and review routine and complex pre- and post-award grant transactions.
  • Work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Utilize technology to provide professional services and function under limited supervision.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of related grant management and/or finance work experience; additional relevant education or experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with SAP or large integrated finance system.
  • A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing project or cost accounting.
  • Experience conducting training.
  • Experience serving multiple units as part of a service team.
  • Experience performing grant-related tasks at a University of Nebraska institution.
  • Experience with NuGrant or similar grants management system.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
  • Knowledge of grant terminology and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
