Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Project Manager to join our team at HKS. As a key member of our structural group, you will be responsible for leading multiple project teams and overseeing the planning, coordination, and administration of projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Manage multiple structural project teams to ensure effective execution of project design, delivery of implementation documents, and construction administration.
  • Client Relationships: Act as the primary client contact point, building strong relationships through a deep understanding of their project needs and progress.
  • Communication: Exercise excellent communication skills on critical issues throughout the project scope.
  • Implementation Documents: Manage and oversee the creation of implementation documents, discussion of project technical issues, and project coordination with other disciplines.
  • Design Solutions: Collaborate with project teams to establish design solutions that meet project goals, budgets, and time constraints, while adhering to local ordinances and codes.
  • Design Process: Participate in all phases of the design process, from kickoff to construction administration, attending on-site visits and field reviews as necessary.
  • Code Analysis: Responsible for detailed code analysis, structural analysis, and calculations, ensuring the quality of implementation documents.
  • Team Management: Manage and supervise project team interactions, both internally and with other project participants.
  • Performance Guidance: Provide guidance and motivation to team members to ensure high performance.
  • Lessons Learned: Participate in project team self-evaluation to distill and distribute lessons learned.
  • Best Practices: Appropriately apply HKS standards, help define best practices, and ensure quality expectations are met.
  • Expertise Integration: Integrate HKS expertise and innovation into all projects, seeking opportunities to incorporate HKS best practices, sustainable design solutions, subject matter expertise, and resources strategically and efficiently for the client, user, and community.
Requirements
  • Education: Accredited professional degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering or a related field.
  • Licensure: Professional engineering or structural engineering licensure required (structural engineering licensure preferred).
  • Experience: Typically 9+ years of experience in engineering and construction.
  • Sustainable Design: Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Revit and BIM, with experience in Vision and MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Teams.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines, integrated design, engineering building systems, QA/QC process, building codes, material design standards, and constructability.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage multiple project teams with a diplomatic and collaborative leadership style, prioritizing relationships and collaboration, both internal and external.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to problem-solve and apply innovative solutions.
  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment.
  • Project Management: Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, effectively meeting deadlines at expected quality.
  • Travel: Travel will be required.
