Role Overview:
As a Senior Structural Project Manager, you will operate independently while remaining under the guidance of the Engineer of Record for specific projects. Your role will involve overseeing the structural team in their engineering and drafting responsibilities across various assignments. You will provide structural design support, either directly or indirectly, to other project team members and serve as the primary liaison for all project coordination tasks, both within the structural team and with other disciplines such as architecture and MEP. Additionally, you will manage the project during the Construction Administration Phase, which includes reviewing and managing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, and participating in OAC meetings as necessary. Your Responsibilities:
  • Engage in coordination meetings with various disciplines and participate in design review sessions with supervisors, clients, and stakeholders. Attend collaborative sessions with owner-client agencies to discuss project scope and structural design approaches.
  • Oversee the design and documentation processes required to finalize construction documents within project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Draft and maintain structural specifications, select construction procedures, determine materials and member sizes, and perform all necessary calculations for accurate design.
  • Review shop drawings, address RFIs, manage change proposal requests, and incorporate changes into project documentation.
  • Utilize effective written and verbal communication skills to convey design and coordination details to project team members and produce comprehensive engineering reports, memos, and correspondence.
  • Conduct site observations and walks during construction phases, documenting findings in detailed reports.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineering license (P.E.); a Structural Engineering license (S.E.) in your state of residence is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive structural engineering experience is required.
  • Three or more years of experience leading multi-discipline project teams is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of state building codes and relevant design codes including ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, NDS, etc.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering software and office tools such as ETABS, SAFE, RISA, RAM, ENERCALC, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Expertise in designing various structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
