Job Summary

Sovah Health - Danville is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Director for Emergency Services to lead our emergency department team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for directing the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Maintain credentialing/certification/licensure and education/competency files of staff and is accountable for staff compliance.
  • Interpret policies and procedures; identify non-compliance and takes appropriate actions.
  • Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Graduate from a program in nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree required. In lieu of degree, CNO may require degree completed within a certain time frame.
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Required Skills: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure appropriateness and continuity of care for the patients of Sovah Health Danville.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association (AHA) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) required or must be obtained within first 6 months of employment
  • Licenses: Current RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact State required
  • Minimum Work Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Manager/Director in a hospital required, Minimum of two (2) years of experience as RN in emergency department required
