Position Overview:
The Housekeeping Houseperson plays a crucial role in maintaining the organization and cleanliness of all designated areas and equipment. This position involves delivering items to guest rooms as requested by guests or management and supporting Housekeepers by removing dirty linen and trash.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit attentiveness, friendliness, and courtesy towards all guests, managers, and colleagues.
  • Adhere to safe work practices to ensure the safety of guests and fellow employees.
  • Perform daily vacuuming and cleaning of floors in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Shampoo carpets in public areas as per hotel guidelines.
  • Shampoo furniture when necessary.
  • Deliver items to guest rooms, offices, and other departments as needed.
  • Restock housekeeping closets and carts with necessary supplies.
  • Manage items for 'Lost and Found' following hotel protocols.
  • Assist in cleaning guest rooms as required.
  • Ensure hotel equipment is maintained in proper working order.
  • Organize storage of hotel equipment in designated areas.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Strive for overall guest satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills to meet departmental deadlines.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Attendance at all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Consistent attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as dictated by scheduling needs.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the appropriate uniform.
  • Comply with Hotel Effie/Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as necessary.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrate initiative by anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management.
  • Consistently maintain a friendly and warm demeanor.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Capability to stand for the entire duration of the shift.

A high school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
