Biomedical Science Program Coordinator

Position Overview:
The University of California, Santa Cruz is in search of a dedicated Program Coordinator to support the leadership team in managing biomedical science training initiatives.
These programs are designed to assist stem cell researchers in developing innovative strategies to address critical health issues such as aging, cancer, neurodegeneration, endometriosis, and cardiovascular diseases.
Role Responsibilities:
The IBSC Program Coordinator will collaborate with a team of researchers and educators to oversee externally funded training programs aimed at undergraduate, pre-doctoral, and post-doctoral candidates in the biomedical sciences. Currently, several multi-year training initiatives are included in this role, all emphasizing the importance of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
A key responsibility will involve coordinating program requirements and shared activities among faculty members and the program director, ensuring smooth operations across various university collaborations.

The position is situated within the Institute for the Biology of Stem Cells (IBSC) at UCSC, which encompasses a multi-division institute dedicated to supporting all stem cell-related research and training activities on campus.
Key Duties:
- Assist with general administration for current and future training programs, including application cycles, advertising opportunities, and confirming receipt of materials.
- Organize program interviews and communicate results to applicants.
- Facilitate program events and monitor compliance with training requirements.
- Maintain program records and update web content as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Administrative experience with knowledge of office procedures and standard equipment.
- Proficiency in standard computing tools and experience in maintaining effective work systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in an academic research environment and familiarity with grant support.
