Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing support under the guidance of physicians and mid-level practitioners, with potential collaboration with registered nurses.
- Utilize specialized knowledge and skills acquired through vocational education and hands-on experience.
- Engage in patient care and scientific/laboratory roles as required.
- Work under moderate supervision, addressing routine issues while occasionally interpreting or deviating from standard procedures.
- Assist in preparing medical records for patient visits, ensuring accuracy in patient identifiers and documenting chief complaints and social histories.
- Support providers and patients during hospital admissions, ensuring a seamless transition to inpatient units.
- Evaluate fall risks and implement necessary precautions, including monitoring patients as needed.
- Facilitate physical exams, treatments, and procedures, assisting providers and nursing staff as necessary.
- Collect specimens and ensure the availability of required supplies and equipment for provider use.
- Conduct Point of Care Testing (POC) as directed, including various tests such as Urine dips and HGB A1C.
- Assist in coordinating diagnostic testing, surgeries, and inpatient admissions under the direction of nursing or medical staff.
- Support patient billing processes by accurately documenting CPT codes, diagnosis codes, and related supplies.
- Ensure that external documents are scanned into electronic medical records and manage referrals and prior authorizations as needed.
- Maintain clinic rooms according to infection control standards and manage supply inventory effectively.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the unit.
- Provide administrative support, including coordinating interpreter services and managing communication effectively.
