Overview:
The Special Education Preschool Teacher (MEEP Teacher) will manage an inclusive preschool environment for children aged 3-5, catering to both typically developing children and those with disabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitates the development of language, social skills, preschool academics, and motor skills for all preschoolers.
  • Collaborates with various therapy professionals, including speech language pathologists and occupational therapists.
  • Engages in team discussions for evaluations, eligibility determinations, and IEP formulation.
  • Creates tailored instructional materials and lesson plans, ensuring modifications and accommodations are in place for individual learning needs.
  • Designs and implements developmentally suitable preschool curricula aligned with educational frameworks.
  • Establishes classroom structure and maintains behavioral standards to foster an effective learning environment.
  • Develops an engaging learning atmosphere through creative displays and centers showcasing student work.
  • Assesses students' academic and social progress, maintaining accurate records and preparing progress reports.
  • Identifies student needs, makes appropriate referrals, and formulates individual education plans.
  • Contributes to the planning of curriculum objectives and relevant performance goals.
  • Monitors individual student achievement, records progress, and adjusts learning activities as necessary.
  • Works closely with parents to support the growth and development of their children.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of child development and the characteristics of students with disabilities.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development relevant to the student population and certification areas.
  • Provides physical support to students as needed, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maintains regular communication with parents through various means, including newsletters and conferences.
  • Is accessible to students and parents for educational purposes beyond regular instructional hours.
  • Collaborates with specialists and service providers to address student challenges.
  • Coordinates the efforts of paraeducators, parents, and volunteers within the classroom.
  • Utilizes school facilities, equipment, and supplies efficiently.
  • Contributes to the operation of the school as a collaborative community.
  • Maintains familiarity with the philosophies and principles of district-wide programs.
SUPERVISORY ROLE: Oversees the classroom, students, and paraprofessionals working within the educational setting.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must hold valid Massachusetts teacher licensure appropriate for the student population, such as:
