About The Role:
Are you prepared to spearhead the transformation of our technological framework? Augmedix is in search of a forward-thinking leader to oversee infrastructure development for our cloud environments and advance our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. As the Head of Cloud Operations, you will be at the forefront of our pioneering advancements in medical documentation technology, shaping the future and enhancing the experience for both patients and clinicians. Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain a robust Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practice.
  • Lead and cultivate a team of 15 cloud engineers across various locations.
  • Facilitate team growth and operations, including hiring, compensation, goal setting, performance evaluation, and career development.
  • Oversee Augmedix's cloud environments and ensure 24x7 support, reliability, performance, and compliance.
  • Define and implement effective monitoring and emergency alerting for cloud infrastructure, services, and applications.
  • Ensure swift recovery from incidents through well-defined operational procedures, tools, and efficient communication with stakeholders.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, and test systems and procedures for best practice Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR).
  • Define success metrics and provide operational reports and dashboards using company analytics tools.
  • Lead a strategy focused on full automation to minimize human dependency and achieve consistency.
  • Maintain the cybersecurity of all cloud environments, including compliance, audits, access control, and best practices implementation.
  • Collaborate proactively with various operational teams to define Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and align on processes, tools, and procedures.
  • Work with software developers, security operations, software architecture, support, platform, and other cross-functional teams on company priorities and roadmap planning.
  • Forecast and monitor cloud resource utilization and associated costs.
  • Engage with vendors, consultants, partners, and customers to ensure cloud operations meet user needs.
  • Communicate cloud architecture, cybersecurity posture, and reliability strategies to internal executives and customers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing production cloud operations for enterprise SaaS or PaaS companies in public clouds such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • 5+ years of experience managing IT operations teams.
  • 5+ years of experience implementing DevOps practices.
  • 5+ years of software development management experience.
  • Experience with HIPAA compliance and the security of PHI data is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Healthcare IT standards and workflows is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, and other cloud services.
  • Solid foundation in Linux/Windows operating systems and tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, IDS, IPS, and proxies.
  • Proficient with DevOps tools and environments such as Jenkins, Git, GitLab, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Experience with centralized logging services and monitoring tools.
