Calista Corporation is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our Corporate Accounting Department.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Accountant in the Oil and Gas sector is responsible for managing project and general ledger documentation, overseeing financial expenditures, capital assets, contracts, and revenue recognition. This role involves preparing reconciliations, conducting financial analyses, and generating management reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver financial insights for assigned projects throughout each reporting period.
  • Participate in project initiation meetings for new contracts as necessary.
  • Establish new projects in accordance with contract stipulations, including revenue recognition assessments.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on active projects and capital assets.
  • Collaborate with Financial, Business, and Operations Managers to ensure accurate and timely client billings.
  • Attend meetings in person as required by management.
  • Track and analyze unbilled revenue.
  • Review and validate Expense Reports for accuracy and appropriate coding.
  • Examine and assess GL details for cost accuracy and correct coding.
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Facilitate project ledger to general ledger reconciliations.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations.
  • Generate journal entries.
  • Prepare payroll records as necessary.
  • Support audit requests and prepare relevant audit documentation.
  • Assist with research or tasks to support intercompany operations.
  • Maintain and manage prepaid accounts amortization schedules.
  • Provide assistance for property, sales, and use tax filings.
  • Work in a state of constant alertness and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Extensive knowledge of the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to process large volumes of data accurately and meet deadlines.
  • Solid grasp of GAAP, particularly regarding fixed assets and revenue recognition.
  • Competence in calculating, posting, analyzing, and managing financial records.
  • Capability to prepare and review complex financial transactions.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with employees and clients.
  • Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and standard software applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Mathematical skills for basic calculations and financial analysis.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Understanding of contracts and agreements.
  • Ability to comprehend company policies and safety regulations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or five years of progressive accounting experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least five years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in the oil and gas sector.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint is preferred.
  • Must pass a drug, background, reference, and credit check.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The characteristics of the work environment are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The role requires a fast-paced, multi-tasking office environment with a high level of efficiency and effectiveness. Occasional weekend and evening work may be necessary. The noise level is generally moderate.
