Position Title: Financial Planning Analyst

Reports to: Director of Corporate Finance

Status: Regular, Full-time, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Financial Planning Analyst will collaborate with Aleut Corporation and its subsidiaries to evaluate and project financial, economic, and other relevant data, ensuring the provision of precise and timely insights for strategic and operational decision-making.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Uphold the core values of Aleut, including honesty, integrity, accountability, respect, and perseverance.
  • Formulate financial plans and comprehensive reports for the organizational leadership team.
  • Develop financial models based on analytical insights to support informed decision-making.
  • Prepare detailed annual financial budgets and monthly financial forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial analysis schedules comparing actual results to budgeted figures on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of key business operations to effectively assess business unit assumptions.
  • Evaluate the financial implications of proposed investments or transactions.
  • Analyze various financial metrics including revenues, expenses, costs, pricing, investments, cash flow, profits, labor market trends, inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates.
  • Investigate industry trends and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Support the assessment of business investments through return on investment (ROI) analysis.
  • Conduct business analysis and prepare reports that guide the financial performance of the organization.
  • Identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results against plans and forecasts.
  • Execute special analytical projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for internal stakeholders by researching and addressing their inquiries.
  • Conduct cash analysis to support overall financial analysis.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficient in analyzing financial data and preparing comprehensive financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with federal and state financial regulations.
  • Solid understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  • Experience with financial and accounting software applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in an analytical role or similar capacity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Cost Point and Sage Intact.
  • Background in government contracting and construction EAC's analysis.
  • Experience with Alaska Native Corporations.
