Role Overview:
We are in search of a meticulous and seasoned Senior Accountant to enhance our financial team. Reporting to the Controller, this position is essential for overseeing critical components of our accounting functions, which encompass Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), journal entries, and the upkeep of our general ledger. This role is vital for ensuring precise financial reporting and bolstering the financial stability of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee vendor and customer documentation, along with the general ledger, utilizing QuickBooks across various subsidiaries.
- Manage accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and debt amortization schedules.
- Generate and distribute monthly customer invoices; conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheets and bank accounts.
- Review, process, and accurately categorize vendor invoices; prepare and execute payments through checks, wire transfers, and ACH.
- Record weekly bank transactions, credit card transactions, cash receipts, and intercompany transactions.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to prepare payroll journal entries and relevant documentation.
- Assist in the monthly closing process and execute month-end journal entries.
- Support year-end activities, including 1099 preparation and W-9 maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and procedural checklists, maintaining compliance with established policies.
- Engage in special projects such as audits, data analysis, and account reconciliations.
- Contribute to daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting, along with other ad hoc reporting tasks.
Educational Requirements:
An Associate's degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of relevant experience is required; a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 5+ years is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Prior experience as a full-charge bookkeeper is highly desirable.
- 2-5 years of experience in general accounting, with a solid grasp of GAAP.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software is essential.
Essential Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; intermediate skills in MS Word and Outlook.
- Strong organizational abilities and capacity to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, showcasing strong initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality.
