Assistant Director of Prospect Management

About the Role

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Advancement team as an Assistant Director of Prospect Management. This is a key role that will play a critical part in our efforts to build strong relationships with alumni and donors, and to secure funding for our university's initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from alumni and donors
  • Collaborate with Advancement leadership, front-line development officers, and data management teams to ensure effective prospect management and fundraising strategies
  • Provide data-driven insights and analysis to inform decision-making and drive fundraising results
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and university leaders
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective prospect management and fundraising practices
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in fundraising and prospect management, and apply this knowledge to drive results

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, and extensive experience in fundraising, prospect management, or a related field
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing strategic plans, and driving fundraising results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive insights
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of speed and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in front-line fundraising, Advancement Services, or sales
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and ethics of fundraising
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofits, fundraising, or marketing
  • Familiarity with advanced features in Excel, and data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Experience defining goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
