Job Summary
The Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Athletics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Equipment Services. This key role will be responsible for maintaining athletic and sports equipment for the football program, ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations, and providing exceptional support to the Director of Equipment Services/Football.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper documentation of equipment usage.
- Assist in ordering, distribution, collection, cleaning, repairing, and maintenance of athletic equipment.
- Provide support in implementing NCAA compliance rules and regulations, Atlantic Coast Conference uniform regulations, and Commonwealth of Virginia purchasing guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Director of Equipment Services/Football to develop and implement effective equipment management strategies.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of equipment to teams and staff.
- Develop and maintain relationships with equipment vendors and suppliers.
- Monitor and control equipment budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Provide exceptional customer service to teams, staff, and visitors.
Requirements
- Master's degree or bachelor's degree with relevant experience in athletic equipment management or a related field.
- Proven experience working in a Division I collegiate athletics equipment and laundry services center.
- Working knowledge of equipment room inventory systems and internet-based purchasing software.
- Experience using TimeClock Plus or similar wage hours recording system.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Experience managing large inventories and budgets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Power 5 collegiate athletics equipment and/or laundry services center.
- Certified member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association.
- Supervisory experience and budget management skills.
