Job Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking applications for the position of Senior Associate Director of Recruitment. This pivotal role, reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, encompasses significant leadership responsibilities within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Senior Associate Director will oversee a dedicated team of approximately 15 admissions counselors and directors, along with a Travel and Events Manager, to design and execute initiatives aimed at attracting, admitting, and retaining students in undergraduate programs.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead a recruitment team of around 15 admissions professionals focused on application evaluations, territory oversight, visitor engagement, event management, and specialized programming, while also supervising the Travel and Events Manager.
* Formulate and implement a forward-thinking recruitment strategy, including a student search initiative, to align with the university's objectives of attracting a diverse and academically accomplished student body.
* Provide guidance and context for transfer and international recruitment efforts conducted by specialized directors within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
* Participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, attending regular meetings and contributing to strategic decision-making.
* Develop an annual territory management plan in collaboration with the Travel and Events Manager, utilizing historical application data to inform recruitment travel.
* Manage and promote the local on-site admissions program for designated regions.
* Deliver updates on application trends, travel, events, and recruitment activities, contributing to the annual report for Undergraduate Admissions.
* Offer advice to prospective undergraduate students and their families regarding educational opportunities, admissions processes, transfer credits, financial aid, and university policies through various communication channels.
* Conduct analyses for program and policy assessments, research best practices, forecast enrollment trends, and manage yield effectively.
* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key secondary school contacts within assigned territories.
* Assist in the strategic planning and execution of recruitment programs, marketing strategies, and technology initiatives aimed at enhancing the recruitment of first-year, transfer, international, and underrepresented students.
* Organize and implement a recruitment travel strategy for assigned territories, including presentations at educational institutions and participation in college fairs or panels.
* Participate in the evaluation of first-year applications for admission, both independently and as part of a committee.

Required Qualifications:

* Master's degree
* Extensive experience in the college admissions sector
* Exceptional communication skills
* Proven supervisory experience in managing a team of admissions professionals
* Background in a public higher education environment
* Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to enhancing underrepresented student enrollment
* Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
* Proven ability to handle high-pressure situations
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel
* Valid driver's license required
* Ability to lift at least 40 pounds independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in a land-grant or Research I institution
* Familiarity with Banner and Slate systems
* Experience with Scarlet CS - Self-Reported Academic Records (SRAR)

Compensation:

Anticipated starting salary of $100,000
