Head of Stakeholder Engagement
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) is dedicated to formulating and implementing advocacy initiatives while providing analytical resources to support Member organizations in their strategic decisions. NEMA also establishes performance benchmarks for its members in the electrical and medical imaging sectors. The Head of Stakeholder Engagement plays a pivotal role in collaborating across various departments to execute strategic communication plans and implement tactical content strategies that effectively engage NEMA's target audiences through impactful storytelling and comprehensive advocacy campaign management. This role requires a deep understanding of energy policy issues and advocacy, proficiency in generating content for diverse platforms, exceptional editing capabilities, and the ability to conduct independent research to distill complex ideas into coherent narratives.
This position is instrumental in building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders within the organization and its member companies. Responsibilities include developing, editing, and disseminating written materials; crafting content for NEMA's social media and digital channels; and providing support to members and councils.
Reporting to the Managing Director of Communications, this role showcases a remarkable ability to enhance the Association's visibility through persuasive and informative content, social media engagement, and improved search engine performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research and organize information accurately.
- Collaborate across functions to generate innovative content ideas that resonate with NEMA's brand voice and elevate its profile.
- Produce well-researched, keyword-optimized content to enhance organic traffic.
- Create high-quality articles, website content, social media updates, case studies, one-pagers, opinion pieces, speeches, newsletters, and other materials on industry-relevant topics for various audiences.
- Develop, implement, and manage a content calendar that aligns with broader editorial and thought leadership themes.
- Ensure consistency in writing style, formatting, and tone across all materials.
- Edit and proofread content generated by team members.
- Oversee content creation and analysis for social media platforms and public websites to boost engagement and expand the Association's reach.
- Write and edit scripts for podcasts and videos, providing coaching to speakers as necessary.
Experience and Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field; a graduate degree is a plus.
- A robust portfolio of published writing samples across various platforms, with a preference for advocacy-focused content.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to accept and incorporate feedback.
- At least two years of experience in creating and evaluating social media campaigns.
- A minimum of five years of experience in developing and executing advocacy communications.
- Proficiency in conceptualizing, writing, editing, and scheduling content for multiple publications.
- Ability to communicate messages succinctly and tailor them to different audiences.
- A solid understanding of SEO principles and content optimization strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a polished executive presence.
- Strong technical skills; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Hootsuite, InDesign, and WordPress is advantageous.
