Role Summary: The Liability Claims Adjuster is tasked with the assessment and resolution of minor to moderate commercial claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess coverage as new claims are reported.
  • Manage claims internally, which includes investigating, evaluating, negotiating, documenting, and concluding claims within designated authority limits.
  • Collaborate with legal representatives in defending insured parties and represent the company during mediations and trials as necessary.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders (including insured parties, claimants, agents, attorneys, repair facilities, and lien holders) as appropriate.
  • Oversee, with management's approval, the activities of independent adjusters and attorneys in the field.
  • Establish and maintain financial reserves, communicating with management as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree coupled with three years of relevant experience is required, or alternatively, five years of experience in claims handling. An adjuster’s license is mandatory. Internal candidates must secure managerial approval prior to application submission.

Skills and Expertise: A minimum of three years of adjusting experience and a Bachelor’s degree are required, or five years of claims handling experience. Candidates should possess knowledge of fundamental insurance and tort law, as well as a grasp of basic legal principles and terminology related to insurance operations. Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is also essential. Proficiency in computer applications (including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet, and email) is required.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

Frequent use of vision, hearing, and communication skills (both oral and written) is necessary. The role may involve standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping. Occasional bending, kneeling, and lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required. The position entails extensive use of computer and office equipment.

Travel and Hours: Occasional travel may be necessary, and there may be a requirement for periodic work outside of standard business hours or on weekends.
