About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Defense Congressional Analyst to join our team at Booz Allen Hamilton. As a key member of our legislative support team, you will provide critical support to our Navy client throughout the annual Defense Authorization and Appropriations process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legislative and congressional support to the Navy client, leveraging existing systems and databases to coordinate, track, report, and make recommendations to support government decisions.
  • Analyze risk-based strategies for legislative processes and planning, and provide analytical support for the development and implementation of Navy and Marine Corps strategy and policy.
  • Track and analyze metrics for strategy implementation, and provide analysis to identify, define, and close requirements using the legislative process.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience working in a professional environment, preferably in a legislative or congressional affairs role.
  • Experience with Congressional or legislative affairs and the Congressional Authorization and Appropriations process, including Program Objective Memorandum (POM) preparation, and working with senior Congressional staff and officials.
  • Experience with direct client interactions, project delivery support, presentations, and leading client meetings.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to track and follow procurement goals as they move through the legislative cycle.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks with minimal direction.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with reviewing and drafting Reclamas for Congressional Defense Committee's as part of annual the Authorization and Appropriations process.
  • Experience using RStudio's rvest and ggplot libraries.
  • Experience working independently, creatively, and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Experience using Python's requests or Beautiful Soup libraries.
  • Knowledge of Python or RStudio.
  • Ability to work with large datasets.
  • Ability to clean data and produce informative visualizations.
