Position Overview
Aptive is in search of a skilled Legislative Affairs Consultant to assist federal clients within the technology sector. This role involves supporting government personnel who manage Congressional and oversight entities to monitor, assign, coordinate, and track the status of incoming and ongoing requests directed to the Congressional Team. Additional duties include contributing to weekly reports and meeting agendas, such as the White House Cabinet Report and CIO Briefing Deck, as well as coordinating meetings with the VA Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs. Limited administrative and communication support will be required, including note-taking during briefings and hearings, sharing relevant information with government staff, and ensuring that notes are accessible in an online repository for team utilization.
The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills, a proactive attitude, and a strong drive for success. They should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a larger team, contributing to innovative solutions for complex challenges.
This is a mid-level, full-time role with potential for remote work contingent upon client approval.
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $115,000 and $125,000. The role includes medical, dental, and vision benefits, along with additional perks such as 401K, disability insurance, and paid time off.

- Demonstrate knowledge of Congressional cycles and processes, with the ability to track and analyze key legislation, preferably with experience in the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- A BA/BS degree, preferably in public policy, political science, or a related field.
- Ability to support the creation and review of policy documents.
- Previous experience in the policy arena for a federal agency.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to evaluate operational effectiveness.
- Competence in utilizing data to present program status and recommend improvements to business processes.
- Experience in drafting notes, implementation plans, and adhering to strict timelines.
- Responsible for communicating with various stakeholders, including executive leadership, both orally and in writing.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and communication skills, including the ability to develop reports, briefings, and similar documents.
