Role Overview

The Medication Management Specialist plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional care to our facilities. As the primary liaison, you will manage the processing of new prescriptions, oversee resident profiles, and deliver outstanding customer service. Under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist, you will assist in the dispensing of medications while adhering to state pharmacy regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately input patient information and medication orders into our system to generate labels.
  • Engage with both internal and external clients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Act as the main point of contact for assigned facilities, collaborating with various departments as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with facilities and healthcare providers to clarify any concerns.
  • Process incoming faxes from facilities, triaging new prescriptions, updating resident profiles, and managing medication discontinuations.
  • Assist in the filling of prescriptions, ensuring compliance with accuracy and productivity standards.
  • Label medications appropriately, including necessary cautionary or auxiliary labels.
  • Participate in regular inventory assessments of the pharmacy.
  • Handle returned medications for credit or disposal as required.
  • Support the training of new team members.
  • Follow established policies for triaging new prescriptions, ensuring completeness of information.
  • Promptly escalate any issues to the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Collaborate with fellow Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
  • Answer phone inquiries and provide information as appropriate.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Conduct all responsibilities in accordance with the company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, policies, and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Required: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Required: Experience in a pharmacy and customer service environment.
  • Required: Proficiency in computer operations; ability to identify medications and communicate effectively.
  • Desired: Experience in specialty pharmacy.
  • Desired: Familiarity with specialty pharmacy software (QS1/PrimeRx preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Preferred: PA Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
