Job Summary

US Oncology, Inc. is seeking an experienced Accountant II to join our team as a Financial Operations Specialist. This role will be responsible for coordinating the month-end close process, including Balance Sheet and P&L reviews, journal entries, account reconciliations, and other general accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the month-end close process, including Balance Sheet and P&L reviews, journal entries, account reconciliations, and other general accounting activities.
  • Advise up-line management regarding the practice management financial programs in our multi-site organization.
  • Support financial goals for the various operating units, maintain general ledger and related systems for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Complete general accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Maintain general ledger, including preparing financial schedules, writing journal entries, maintaining cash clearing account reconciliations, etc.
  • Lead monthly close of ACS and related management companies in an accurate and timely manner (4 business days). Ensure accruals are appropriately made each month.
  • Review G/L coding on invoices before checks are released to ensure accurate coding.
  • Work with State Controller and management to obtain all necessary information and explanations. Ensure compliance with Management Services Agreements for the practice.
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and supported by valid detail.
  • Review monthly reporting packages for all divisions for accuracy, reasonableness, and completeness.
  • Respond to Controller inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Provide various practice-specific reporting as requested by Controller. Ensure accuracy and completeness of fixed assets records including depreciation.
  • Understand and confirm accuracy of discounts/reserves for ACS monthly.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process for all divisions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, finances, and cost-effective health care delivery issues.
  • May indirectly oversee functions of Accounting Specialists/support staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (with appropriate experience).
  • Practice Management/Health Care related experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive Accounting experience.
  • Strong foundation in accounting required, but candidate must also demonstrate strong analytical skills.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred, though not required.
  • Work in-person a total of 4 days per week at the Central Business Office (Trevose-Feasterville). There may be need upon occasion to visit another site/office for meetings.
