We are seeking a qualified Lead Engineer for Airport Civil Projects to contribute to our Southeast Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and nurturing business relationships to secure projects across various airport types.
  • Formulating strategic plans and overseeing the execution of diverse airport initiatives, including federally and state-funded improvement programs, as well as projects at both public and private airports.
  • Creating contract specifications and preparing bid estimates.
  • Coordinating with engineering design teams and other disciplines to achieve project objectives.
  • Collaborating with other Volkert divisions to promote aviation-related services to clients throughout the Southeast Region.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer registration with the Florida Board of Professional Engineers or the ability to obtain it within three months.
  • Experience in designing FAA and State DOT aviation projects for a designated client base.
  • Proven track record in business development.
  • Ability to recruit, manage, and inspire a team.
  • Established relationships with airports in Florida.
  • Management experience encompassing all project phases: grant facilitation, design, bidding, construction administration, and project closeout, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Demonstrated compliance with airport master plans, federal grant assurance requirements, FAA and state design standards, and project scopes.
  • Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars relevant to airport design and construction, including runways, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, grading/drainage, and pavement markings.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in general office software, including MS Office and Faarfield.
