Job Details:
The City of Gainesville Public Works Department is on the lookout for a skilled professional to become part of our team in the capacity of Supervising Engineer - Traffic.
A degree in engineering and licensure as a Registered Engineer are essential for this role.Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing and directing traffic signal technicians and technical personnel.
Install, maintain, operate, program, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of traffic control devices and communication systems.
Address and respond to community inquiries regarding traffic signals and signage.
Support the City’s strategic vision for 2035.
Position Overview:
NATURE OF WORK
Lead engineering efforts by coordinating teams of Public Works engineers and technical support specialists in the planning, development, and execution of significant projects or major initiatives.
CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS
Positions in this classification report to a designated manager and operate under general supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.
A minimum of eight years of experience in the relevant engineering field.
A valid State of Florida Professional Engineer license is required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
A valid Florida Driver License is necessary.
SELECTION FACTORS
Ability to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate engineering projects effectively.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
