Multimedia Support Specialist

REPORTS TO:

Senior Technical Services & Operations Manager

SUMMARY:
Under the general oversight of the Technical Services Manager, this role involves assisting with all technical operations within the facility.

May also report to the Technical Services Lead in the absence of the Technical Services Manager.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, holidays, and weekends, as necessary.

Telecommunication System:
Manage the programming of all facility telephones, distribute phone instruments as events require, oversee inventory of telecommunication equipment, and perform related tasks.

Information Technology:
Troubleshoot a Windows-based network, install software according to manufacturer specifications, collaborate with city officials on network issues; establish new user accounts, and perform other related duties.

Scoreboard Operations:
Oversee general operations of the scoreboard and its features; provide maintenance and repairs as permitted by the manufacturer, coordinate connectivity with the distributed television system, train others in operation, and execute other related tasks.

Audio System Management:
Comprehend the full capabilities of the audio system; set up portable PA systems, arrange house microphones for events, ensure connectivity with scoreboard video systems and/or distributed television systems, and manage other audiovisual functions.

Lighting Control:
Understand the full capabilities of computer-controlled lighting; program lighting levels, and perform other related tasks.

Distributed Television Management:
Understand the full capabilities of the system, ensure connectivity with house sound and/or scoreboard video systems; program televisions based on event schedules, and execute other related functions.

Special Projects:
Assist in researching data and procuring equipment as necessary for upcoming projects.

Asset Management and Maintenance:
Assist with inventory management of departmental assets and complete scheduled preventive maintenance work orders for inventoried equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in all procedures, techniques, machinery, materials, equipment, and tools used in technical construction and maintenance.

Possess knowledge and experience in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for anticipated events at the facility.

Must have a thorough understanding of the facility's electrical, audiovisual, television, computer network, telecommunication, and scoreboard systems. Ensure compliance with all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations, and emergency procedures. Engage in decision-making that is generally governed by procedure and guided by policy. Communicate effectively through verbal, email, or written means to supervisors, managers, and upper management. Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and other related materials. Follow oral and written instructions. Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedules to produce accurate results. Operate a personal computer using Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office equipment. Maintain a valid and insured driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States. Remain adaptable and responsive to changing situations as they arise.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and/or two (2) years of relevant work experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred in the IT/AV field.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasional sitting while operating a personal computer to enter data. Ability to read words and numbers in printed form and on a computer. Ability to speak clearly with proper diction. Walk/stand for extended periods during a shift, with the ability to climb ladders. Climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs of equipment. Ability to work at confined elevated heights up to 65'. Hearing sufficient to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells, and horns. Ability to travel by automobile and/or air. Ability to use standard office equipment, such as calculators, PCs, printers, fax machines, photocopiers, and telephones. Certification in Scissor and Aerial lift operation is a plus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:
This position may involve working in a windowless office environment for extended hours during a shift. Will require being outside during adverse weather conditions on occasion. May be exposed to high noise levels for extended periods, depending on the type of events. May be exposed to bodily fluids during the course of work. Must pass a background check.
