Location: Holland, MI

LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. (LGESMI) specializes in the development and manufacturing of large lithium-ion polymer batteries and packs for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage applications. We are at the forefront of advanced EV battery technology.

Position Overview

The Supplier Quality Assurance Manager is tasked with overseeing supplier quality teams to fulfill engineering and production requirements efficiently and safely. This role is pivotal in driving exceptional manufacturing performance by cultivating a skilled workforce through effective planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing processes. The manager is responsible for monitoring supplier quality related to the production of lithium-ion battery materials/products, ensuring that targeted volumes are produced with the highest quality standards and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure workplace cleanliness in alignment with 5S3R Standards:
    1. Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
    2. Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Lead and support quality enhancement initiatives both internally and externally.
  • Performance metrics for this role will be evaluated based on internal customer satisfaction and supplier performance indicators.
  • Address and fully support production needs by ensuring all components meet engineering specifications.
  • Oversee advanced product quality planning and the successful introduction of components.
  • Establish, communicate, and fulfill internal requirements for Control Systems promptly and effectively.
  • Apply analytical skills to conduct root cause analysis and propose corrective actions.
  • Enhance Process Capability on critical characteristics within the quality team through the application of statistical analysis techniques and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Engage proactively with suppliers to mitigate and resolve launch and ongoing quality/performance challenges.
  • Conduct comprehensive and timely Layered Process Audits in relevant operational areas.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years in Manufacturing/Quality Assurance/Engineering within the Manufacturing sector or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a large global manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive sector.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving tools such as 8-D's, Fishbone Diagrams, and 5 – Why's.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as needed to collaborate with headquarters and global sites.
  • Complete necessary documentation and audits as required by the position.
  • Maintain 5S and 3R standards consistently.
  • Adhere to dress code requirements specific to the position.
  • Participate in and successfully complete all required training.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of APQP, inspection equipment and techniques, root cause failure analysis, capability studies, statistical distributions, machine and assembly processes, problem-solving, PFD/PFMEA/Control Plan, PPAP, 8D/5Why, team facilitation, and geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred; Green Belt required.
  • Strong data analysis capabilities.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with report writing in Microsoft Word and graphical analysis in Minitab is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Global Plant and Supplier Development is advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Minitab.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as necessary to support collaboration with headquarters and global sites.
