Location: Holland, MI

LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. (LGESMI) specializes in the development and production of large lithium-ion polymer batteries and packs tailored for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage solutions. We are at the forefront of advanced EV battery technology.

Summary

The Supplier Quality Assurance Manager is tasked with leading teams focused on supplier quality to fulfill engineering and production requirements efficiently and safely. This role is pivotal in driving exceptional manufacturing performance by cultivating a skilled workforce through effective planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing processes. The manager oversees supplier quality to ensure that lithium-ion battery materials and products are produced at optimal quality and cost, while also supporting LGESMI's operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure workplace cleanliness adheres to 5S3R Standards:
    1. Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
    2. Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Lead and promote quality enhancement initiatives both internally and externally.
  • Performance metrics for this role will be evaluated based on internal customer satisfaction and supplier performance indicators.
  • Provide comprehensive support to plant production by confirming all components meet engineering specifications.
  • Oversee advanced product quality planning and the successful introduction of components.
  • Establish, communicate, and fulfill internal requirements for Control Systems in a timely and effective manner.
  • Apply analytical skills to conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Enhance Process Capability on critical characteristics within the quality team through the application of statistical analysis techniques and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Collaborate proactively with suppliers to mitigate and resolve launch and ongoing quality/performance challenges.
  • Conduct thorough and timely Layered Process Audits in relevant operational areas.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; an MBA or MS is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years in Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or Engineering within the manufacturing sector or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a large global manufacturing organization, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving tools such as 8-D's, Fishbone Diagrams, 5-Why's, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to coordinate with headquarters and global sites.
  • Complete necessary documentation and audits as required by the position.
  • Maintain 5S and 3R standards.
  • Comply with general and position-specific dress code policies.
  • Engage in and successfully complete all required training programs.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in APQP, inspection techniques, root cause failure analysis, capability studies, statistical distributions, and assembly processes.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred; Green Belt certification is required.
  • Strong data analysis capabilities.
  • Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables and data plotting for analysis.
  • Experience in report writing using Microsoft Word and graphical analysis with Minitab is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Global Plant and Supplier Development is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Minitab.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support collaboration with headquarters and global sites.
