Position Overview:
The Patient Care Coordinator acts as the primary contact for patients and visitors within the healthcare environment. This role is essential for maintaining efficient operations within the medical facility. The coordinator undertakes various administrative responsibilities while providing vital support to both patients and healthcare professionals, significantly contributing to the delivery of patient care.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Documentation: Accurately maintain and update patient records, including intake forms, treatment plans, and progress notes, ensuring confidentiality in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Insurance Management: Complete insurance and medical forms, including prior authorizations, referrals, and other necessary documentation.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison among patients, medical providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring effective information flow.
  • Patient Interaction: Return patient calls and manage refill requests promptly to meet patient needs.
  • Financial Transactions: Collect co-pays, deductibles, and payments for services rendered, issuing receipts and establishing payment plans when necessary.
  • Insurance Verification: Confirm patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments.
  • Billing Accuracy: Ensure precision in patient billing and coding information.
  • Reception Area Management: Organize and maintain a clean and orderly reception area.
  • Authorization Management: Obtain necessary authorizations and referrals, addressing billing inquiries and collections.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
  • Vital Signs Monitoring: Regularly check and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and urine analysis.
  • Patient Support: Attend to patients' concerns and needs, providing empathetic assistance.
  • Information Sharing: Communicate relevant patient information to medical providers and team members.
  • Laboratory Duties: Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic lab tests.
  • Patient Education: Inform patients about their medications and treatment plans.
  • Cleanliness Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness of patient rooms and clinical areas.
  • Compliance: Uphold strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations.

Patient Engagement:

  • Greeting Patients: Welcome patients and visitors in a professional manner.
  • Patient Registration: Register new patients, collect necessary information, and verify insurance details.
  • Information Provision: Provide details about services, policies, and procedures.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic systems.
  • Data Management: Collect and update patient demographic information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Collaboration:

  • Team Coordination: Work closely with medical staff, including physicians, nurses, and medical assistants, to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Billing Collaboration: Collaborate with billing and coding specialists for accurate and timely claims processing.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Required
Completion of a medical assisting program from an accredited institution - Preferred
6 months of experience in a Medical Assistant role or front desk work - Preferred

Salary Range:
$18-20
