Professional Development Opportunities

GLMS Oakland is committed to the continuous growth of our educators, providing pre-approved educational contributions to support ongoing professional development. Teachers who complete training programs are eligible for promotions and salary increases based on their current roles and future commitments. We offer mentorship from experienced educators, along with in-person and online training sessions throughout the year. We encourage all our teachers to engage in ongoing educational courses to enhance their knowledge and advance their careers.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 12 units in early childhood education, including child development, child, family, and community, and curriculum.
  • At least 6 months of experience working with children.
(Partially qualified teachers must have 6 months of teaching experience, 6 units, and be actively enrolled in ECE courses until they complete the required 12 units. Partially qualified teachers will be classified under the assistant role in the wage scale until all requirements are met.)

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and engage with children at all times.
  • Assist in planning and implementing the afternoon schedule.
  • Support staff during breaks.
  • Design and execute aftercare activities that align with our Montessori Curriculum Guidelines.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings and continuing education sessions as directed by the leadership team.
  • Collaborate with the main day Headteacher to ensure consistent parent interactions and to support individual student goals in the afternoon.
  • Ensure all students are signed out before leaving the campus.
  • Lead small groups of students.
  • Reset classrooms, playgrounds, and shared spaces at the end of the day, following closing procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment for the next day.
  • Report any issues, parent inquiries, or requests to the campus director.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive hourly rate starting at $23.40, based on experience, class size, and completed coursework.
