Role Summary
The Early Childhood Afterschool Educator will work closely with the Site Coordinator and play a vital role in the success of our afterschool initiatives. This position requires the ability to cultivate a supportive learning atmosphere where children can thrive. The educator will design and deliver developmentally appropriate activities that align with their expertise and interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and activities that align with our educational philosophy and cater to the diverse backgrounds of our students.
  • Be attentive to the needs of children, fostering a safe and stimulating environment.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, applying appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Provide individualized support to students in various subjects and general schoolwork.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators in lesson planning and resource sharing.

  • Serve as a positive role model for children and colleagues.
  • Maintain an organized and clean learning environment.
  • Exhibit consistent attendance, as this role is crucial to the program's success.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-bias education.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare or a related field, working with children in transitional kindergarten through 5th grade.
  • Preferred qualifications include an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Must possess 48 college credits, including 24+ ECE units or equivalent coursework in education or related fields.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficient in classroom and behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Physical capability to engage actively with children.
  • Availability to work consistently during scheduled hours.

The compensation for this position starts at $23.29 per hour, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay.
