About the Opportunity

The Northeastern University Children's School is seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team as a Preschool Teacher in our Younger Preschool program. We follow a progressive model of education for Toddler through Transitional Kindergarten, and we are looking for a dedicated professional to support the planning and supervision of an exemplary curriculum for our designated program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Instruction & Assessment: Develop and implement curriculum linked to the Early Childhood Foundations and California Preschool Curriculum frameworks.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development: Regularly work with colleagues to study and assess children's learning, continuously improving instruction and contributing to the knowledge base of teaching.
  • Program Planning & Implementation: Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities and support of children.
  • Child Safety & Well-being: Ensure the safety and well-being of children in the program, using academic and social emotional curriculum to support and supervise.
  • Centering Praxis: Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and improvement, bridging theoretical knowledge and actionable practice, continually adapting and refining teaching practices.
  • Communication: Maintain active and open communication with parents/guardians and other members of the Children's School staff, including home-school visits, parent/teacher conferences, and weekly staff meetings.
  • Other Duties: Participate in and support auxiliary events, such as recruitment/admissions, development/fund-raising, and academic conferences.
Requirements
  • Experience: Two or more years of recent successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Education: 12 Early Childhood/Child Development Education Units.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of a Constructivist, Experiential model of education, commitment to an inclusive, culturally sustaining education model, and demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to exhibit strong service orientation, promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment, and meet the position's contingent requirements.
