Compensation: $27.55-$30.92 DOE plus a $1,000 sign-on bonus

Program Overview:

The Children and Family Services programs encompass Head Start, Early Head Start, State Pre-Kindergarten, Home-Based Services, and Developmental Play Groups. Our services cater to over 900 children and their families, ensuring developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive care.

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality care and education to infants and toddlers in a nurturing environment. This role emphasizes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children enrolled in the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nurturing care during daily routines such as meals, toileting, and napping
  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate curricula
  • Collaborate with team members to create and execute daily lesson plans
  • Conduct assessments and maintain ongoing observations of children
  • Facilitate parent-teacher conferences and home visits as required
  • Utilize classroom materials to foster an engaging learning environment
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families
  • Ensure a safe and healthy classroom in compliance with regulations
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and professional development
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Center Director

Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop and implement daily curriculum plans
  • Strong teamwork skills in a multicultural environment
  • Compassionate approach to working with children and families
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English or another language preferred
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and preventive health measures

Requirements:

  • Teacher Permit or eligibility (24 ECE units, including core courses)
  • AA Degree in Child Development or related field preferred
  • 6 units in Infant/Toddler Care (or in progress)

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of climbing stairs, lifting 20-30 pounds, and engaging in various physical activities necessary for child care.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Physical examination
  • TB test
  • Background clearance
  • Vaccinations as required
  • CPR certification
  • Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training
