Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our Child Day Care Center, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 0-5 years old.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating a warm and welcoming environment that promotes the development and well-being of children.
  • Supervise children, ensuring their health and safety at all times, and maintaining a 1:4 or 1:8 child-to-staff ratio as required by State Licensing.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of equipment and supplies, and assist with set-up and clean-up duties as needed.
  • Support the Head Teacher in completing required State Licensing paperwork, including observations, assessments, and other documentation.
  • Be willing to substitute for support services and teaching positions as needed.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.
  • Early Childhood Education units 0-6 are preferred, and some experience working with young children is required.
  • Child Care Center experience is also preferred.
  • Must be highly flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with children, work with diverse groups, and work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  • Ability to reach overhead and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
