Position Overview

The Mk7 Reentry Systems Engineering Lead will oversee a dedicated team of systems engineers, taking charge of technical oversight, strategic planning, risk assessment, resource allocation, and staffing for the specialized Reentry W93/Mk7 Systems Engineering division within the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Reentry Systems Engineering framework.

As the Reentry Systems Engineering Lead, your responsibilities will include:

  • Directing the W93/Mk7 Systems Engineering team under the guidance of the Mk7 Program Manager and W93/Mk7 Chief Systems Engineer.
  • Assuming additional duties related to Reentry Systems Engineering Integration & Services, conducting Reentry Independent Review Boards, managing Reentry Requirements/Verification, and overseeing Risk and Opportunity management.
  • Reporting to the Senior Manager for Reentry Systems Engineering & Design.

This role may require travel between various operational sites.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven understanding of the FBM program and Trident II (D5) Reentry System.
  • Familiarity with the Navy SSP Reentry clientele.
  • Over 10 years of overall experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role within engineering, and 5 years applying System Engineering methodologies.
  • Experience in supporting or leading technical investigations.
  • Expertise in technical system requirements.
  • Proficient in requirements creation, management, bi-directional traceability, and verification planning & execution.
  • Capability to devise strategic plans and translate them into actionable daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
  • Background in electronics, software, and/or mechanical design.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading extensive problem investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to inspire and energize a team effectively.
  • Experience in generating Basis-Of Estimates (BOEs) and providing proposal support.
  • Cost Account Management (CAM) certification.
  • Strong track record of effective customer collaboration and coordination.
  • Experience with IBM rational tools.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of Weapon Specifications.
