Position Overview

The Mk7 Reentry Systems Engineering Lead will oversee a team of systems engineers, taking charge of technical oversight, strategic planning, risk assessment, resource allocation, and staffing for the dedicated Reentry W93/Mk7 Systems Engineering division within the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Reentry Systems Engineering organization.

As the Mk7 Reentry Systems Engineering Lead, your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the W93/Mk7 Systems Engineering division under the guidance of the Mk7 Program Manager and W93/Mk7 Chief Systems Engineer.
  • Assuming additional responsibilities for Reentry Systems Engineering Integration & Services, conducting Reentry Independent Review Boards, managing Reentry Requirements/Verification, and overseeing Risk and Opportunity management.
  • Reporting directly to the Senior Manager for Reentry Systems Engineering & Design.

This role may require travel between various operational sites.


Preferred Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of the FBM program and Trident II (D5) Reentry System.
  • Familiarity with the Navy SSP Reentry customer.
  • A minimum of 10 years of total experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role and 5 years applying System Engineering processes and methodologies.
  • Experience in supporting or leading technical investigations.
  • Proficiency in technical system requirements and management.
  • Expertise in requirements creation, management, bi-directional traceability, and verification planning & execution.
  • Ability to strategically plan and translate strategies into actionable tasks.
  • Experience in electronics, software, and/or mechanical design.
  • Demonstrated capability in leading significant problem investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Skill in motivating and energizing a team effectively.
  • Experience in generating Basis-Of Estimates (BOEs) and providing proposal support.
  • Cost Account Management (CAM) certification.
  • Proven history of effective customer coordination and collaboration.
  • Experience utilizing IBM rational tools.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of Weapon Specifications.
